The Kent County Commissioners will be getting their new seat mate in two weeks, pending Gov. Martin O’Malley’s signature.
William Short, a sitting member of the Local Management Board and owner of Creative Treatments, Inc., will take over for Alex Rasin.
“I’m going to bring a little bit different approach from the business aspect because I’ve been a business owner for 22 years,” Short said. “Budgets and taxes and public relations–that’s the only job a commissioner, and that’s what I look forward to working on.”
“I would like to bring a good working relationship to the table,” Short said. “Things have been a little contentious with Alex [Rasin] resigning…I wish him luck, he’s a great guy.”
Short also said he plans to run for the post in 2014.
Short’s appointment was approved by the Kent County Republican Central Committee on April 27.
“I’m very pleased to be working for the citizens, and that’s what I’ve been doing for the last two years,” Short said.

To correct this statement I had sat on the Local Management Board until year 2011and I’m no longer a sitting member.
