The Kings of Crownsville

Time: 8 p.m.

Location: The Mainstay, Rock Hall

Describing themselves as ‘a drinking band with a jazz problem’, the Kings of Crownsville have a fun-loving rootsy sound that can take listeners from the streets of New Orleans out onto old Route 66 picking up influences from nearly every page of the American songbook along the way. Their bluesy sound comes to life with the solid songwriting, lead vocals and guitar of Steve Johnson; John C. Harris on trombone and vocals; Mike McCormick on piano and vocals; Rob Creath on percussion; Pete Miller on bass; and Jim Tavener on trumpet. Postponed from February. From festive rest stops to friendly volunteers, you’ll meet hundreds of people along the way who are joining the movement to end MS. Sultana Public Paddles

Time: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Location: Quaker Neck on the Chester River

Spend a morning with Sultana Projects trained staff paddling some of the most pristine sections of the National Park Service’s new Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Water Trail as well as adjacent river trails. Canoes are provided, so just bring a day-pack and be ready to explore. For information and reservations call Sharon Burritt, 410-778-5954, or e-mail [email protected]. Adults $30 / $15 under 12. Day Sail on the Sultana

Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Annapolis to Chestertown

For those interested in a more prolonged sailing experience on the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Sultana offers Public Day Sails throughout the season that give you the opportunity to accompany Sultana on one of her port-to-port transits. These sails generally last from 5 to 8 hours in length, beginning in one port and ending in another. Day Sails give the captain and crew a chance to unfurl more of Sultana’s canvas and sail somewhat harder than is usually possible during our two-hour sails.
$50 per person/no children under 12/no return transportation. Call 410-778-5954 for reservations.

Gifted Young Musicians: Classical Solos, Duos & Trios

Time: 4 p.m.

Location: The Mainstay, Rock Hall

Thirteen-year-old cellist Bihn Park and fifteen-year-old violinist Amy Semes are students at Temple University’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians. Bihn played with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 11 and Amy with the Shanghai Philharmonic in 2009. Both have won many competitions. They will be joined by pianist Nozomi Takashima in a program of Brahms, Loillet and Handel/Halverson. A Hedgelawn Classical Music Series Concert. Call 410-639-9133 for reservations. Tickets are $15.
