The pictures are great and show the beauty of the storm but, what about the negative impact?
I commend the workers who have spent many hours in an effort to clear roads and the neighbors who are voluntarily helpful. However, I also have concerns about the lack of sensitivity being shown toward the merchants of Chestertown by town management. This is of particular concern during a time where the economy has already had significant impact on long standing businesses.
As a resident (and employee) in this lovely town, I had opportunity to observe the lack of sensitivity and consideration that should be a part of such a small community as one of our merchants had to address the lack of access to businesses. Yes, roads were plowed, but, piles at the curb were 4 feet high or better. It seems to me that emergency plans, if they are existent, should include consideration for “business as (near to) usual” during critical times. This weekend, after all, should have posed a positive impact on revenue for merchants who were able to open but it is no surprise to me that potential patrons who drove through town would pass by upon noticing that access to the sidewalk was virtually impossible. Where was our town management? Home in their warm homes? Would it have been too much to visit or contact (by phone) the merchants to see what could be done to help them overcome the challenges being faced?
Do we have an emergency snow plan in place? Should something be included to address the merchants needs? Wouldn’t it be a positive and thoughtful consideration to have a COMPASSIONATE town management team available to the merchants of our town under these circumstances? Someone who understands!
BTW, is there some way consideration can be given to avoiding the blockage of residential driveways as the roads are being plowed?

Beautiful Pictures. Perfect lighting as usual.
RE: Clearing the snow,
Public Works is supposed to keep the roads open for public safety. Sidewalks and private access to the road is up to the property owner.
