A sordid story involving sex, text messaging, jewels, deceit, two bottles of booze and a battery charger is told today in a report from the Kent County Sheriff’s office.
Investigators say the incident occurred back on Oct. 24, in a house on Raleigh Road, Chestertown, where a gang of young people partied and looted in the owner’s absence.
The victim, identified as Elinor Raleigh, 67, of that address, told officers she left home after arranging for a 17-year-old Chestertown girl to house-sit for her.
The sheriff’s report: “John Lee Hall Jr., 20, of Ramsey Lane, Chestertown, known by the female juvenile, arrived at the victim’s residence. While at the residence, Hall and the female juvenile engaged in sexual relations.”
Afterward, officers said, Hall texted “the other suspects” — identified as Gary Stamatelaky, 19, of Baltimore; David Urie Jones Jr., 28, of Kennedyville; Brandon Parks, 20, of Kennedyville; and Thomas Arthur Embrey, 20, of Jay Road, Chestertown – telling them to come to the residence.
“The suspects began searching the victim’s residence for a large sum of money,” reports the Sheriff’s Office. “No money was discovered. However, jewelry valued at over $10,000 was located and removed. . . also taken from the residence were several bottles of liquor and a battery charger.”
After a two-month investigation, two rings and the battery charger were recovered. “The remaining items are believed to have been permanently disposed of,” officers said.
All the suspects were charged with “theft $10,000 to under $100,000. The 17-year-old Chestertown girl was referred to Juvenile Services.
