Compliments to Kay MacIntosh and Laura Wilson for the new message on our downtown parking meters, informing the public that although parking is free volunteer donations in the form of coins put in the meters will be used to improve the community in which we live.

I thought free parking was intended to attract shoppers and visitors. It has been almost impossible to find a parking space during business hours. Spaces seem to be taken by people
working in town.

MARCIA – in 2014 the Town built a new, 40-space parking lot on Cannon Street just north of the intersection of Cannon and Cross (on the left as you head away from the Chester River). On any given day, there are at least 20 empty spaces in this lot. This would put you within 1-2 blocks (or less) of all of our major stores, bars, and galleries downtown. Check it out!

Thanks, Ed! Shout-out goest to Greg Waddell who designed the stickers using graphic elements from our Robbi-Behr designed Arts & Entertainment District logo. We don’t miss those green canvas bags! And a (truly) heart-felt thank-you to my sons, Will and John, who spent their Saturday helping me and Laura sticker every meter downtown. The bags around Fountain Park will stay on because they bear a message about the Farmer’s Market. Local residents and visitors, alike, are welcome to donate their pocket change in the meters to help beautify the A&E District.
