From the dorms of Washington College to poor rural hamlets in Dorchester County, there is only one Mid-Shore private, non-profit human services agency for outpatient mental health services and crisis support for sexual assault. And that organization is For All Seasons, which has operated for thirty years with the mission to provide support and services to individuals and communities to assist, maintain and enhance social functioning in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties.
That’s a tall order for one organization. Almost 2,000 times a month, victims of rape and mental illness call into the organization’s hotlines for professional assistance with some of our society’s most challenging and violent crimes in both English and Spanish, while also operating the Mid-Shore’s only Rape Crisis Center, a mobile crisis support service, a family visitation center, detention center support, homeless outreach programming, anger management classes, and mental health clinicians.
Behind this vast operation is For All Seasons’ executive director Beth Anne Langrell. In her first interview with the Spy, Beth Anne talks frankly about the realities of sexual assault and mental illness on the Mid-Shore, and her organization’s response to these growing problems. Beth Anne also talks about For All Seasons need to expand staffing (now over 50 full-time employees) to cope with a significant jump in clients in every county on the Mid-Shore.
