With close to 100 years of serving the greater Chestertown area, the Rotary Club, and the Washington College Rotaract Club are teaming up to inaugurate a new tradition in Kent County called Flags for Heroes starting Memorial Day Weekend.
The Rotarians plan to raise funds for American flags will be proudly displayed on Washington College’s parcel located at Washington Avenue and Morgnec Road from May 20 through May 31 for Commencement Weekend and Memorial Day Weekend. A list of flag sponsors and their heroes will appear in local publications for Memorial Day Weekend and is 100% tax deductible. All net proceeds will support local veteran and other worthy causes.
The Spy spent a few minutes with Rotary president-elect Andrew Meehan and Washington College Rotaract Club President Pria Dutt about their plans to raise funds for 200 flags by Memorial Day.
