Women In Need Inc. (WIN) is launching a new boutique shop on High Street to showcase their curated collection of antiques, collectibles, vintage and handmade jewelry and other treasures. The positive reviews and overwhelming support received from the community for the pop up Christmas Shoppe were the encouragement to make this a longer-term project.
The new store, “Finders / Keepers”, located at 335 High Street, will open on First Friday, February 5th, and will showcase some of the finer items that often get lost in the 8,000 square foot space at the main store. By bringing this boutique store to High Street, WIN is choosing to be an active participant in revitalization of the downtown community.
As the store finds success in its new location, it may expand into some DIY pieces converting some wonderful “finds” into fabulous “keepers”. At this time the store is committed to two months and then evaluate if this second location is viable.
In a perfect example of post consumer recycling, the WIN Store is always a unique shopping experience and is truly never the same place twice, with new and unique merchandise coming in daily from the community to be returned back to the community. The new location on High Street will have the same variety and style of shopping with updates weekly.
For the last 14 years, Karen Dionisio and company have operated the WIN Thrift Store on Philosopher¹s Terrace (next to Dollar General). Over the years the store has provided much of WIN¹s financing to support various programs for those in need. In addition to providing low cost furnishings and goods, the WIN Store also serves the community by providing home essentials to qualifying families for reduced or no cost. This past winter, WIN launched the new Project M.E. (Microenterprise Empowerment) providing support and location space for new start up businesses to gain exposure to the region and customers.
