Chestertown Chester Gras, now in its third year, will return to downtown Chestertown, Saturday, February 6 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. with the New Orleans-style parade around Monument and Fountain parks beginning at 1 p.m. WCTR will be broadcasting live from the event.
Party-goers will gather in heated tents (admission to tents is FREE) on High Street, between Spring and Mill streets, for fun, food/beverage sales, music, children’s activities, 50/50 raffle and an awesome silent auction with many items, gift certificates and services donated by area businesses. This year some of the highlights of the silent auction include: Orioles tickets, fishing trips, golf outing, a beautiful hand made quilt and many many more awesome items.
Admission into the heated tents is free. Tickets can be purchased to buy gumbo, hot dogs, king cake, beer, wine, soda and water.T-shirts will be available for advance purchase by calling Henri, 410-778-3500, [email protected]
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Kent County and Sudlersville backpack programs. In the program, students who live with food insecurity are sent home from school on Fridays with nutritious meals and snacks for the weekend, when school breakfasts and lunches are not available.
