Mayor Chris Cerino appealed to business and residents of Kent County to write letters of support to Governor Hogan for the town’s request to grant funds—#1.5M— to underwrite the Town’s effort to revitalize the Chestertown Marina.
Cerino addressed the town council on Monday saying that he’d met with Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio who advised the town to submit their request as soon as possible to be considered by state’s next legislative session.
“I believe that we are simply going to keep being completely ignored if we don’t show, in no uncertain terms, that this project has broad-based community support,” Cerino said.
The Mayor asks that all letters be submitted through the town offices so that copies could be made for future support efforts. Other wise they could be sent directly to the Governor’s Office at 100 State Circle, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Cerino recently put together a comprehensive capital project request for the revitalization of the Chestertown Marina. It can be read here.

I still don’t understand why the Town thought they should buy the marina in the first place. With all the thing of importance that this State and County could put that kind of money towards, the marina is the last thing that should be considered in my opinion.
