Mariah’s Mission Fund’s “Funding The Fight…Silent No More” event at St. Michaels Harbour Inn, Marina and Spa recently raised almost $13,000 to provide resources for families who have lost loved ones to substance abuse and to raise awareness and education about substance abuse in our communities.
To date the Fund is supporting a bereavement group in Pasadena, as well as at Talbot Hospice, for families who have lost someone to substance abuse. A support group for families who have a family member fighting substance abuse meets in St. Michaels bimonthly. Mariah’s Mission Fund is also now partnering with Dry Dock Recovery & Wellness Center in Cambridge to provide a support group open to all in recovery including individuals using medically assisted therapies (MAT).
Val Albee, founder of the organization, comments, “We are so grateful to Bob Pascal. Delores Jones and the others on his staff for hosting this event for our community. Together, we can make a difference in fighting substance abuse on the Shore.”
Sheriff Joe Gamble, echoed Albee by adding, “All of us are spokes in the wheel. We need more partners in this effort fighting the largest drug problem our country has ever faced.”
Bob Pascal of the Pascal Family Group of businesses, which also included Bistro St Michaels and Mason’s in Easton, and Arc Rosenblatt of the Michael Marcell Memorial Fund both matched $1800 in donations made by guests at the event. A silent auction added to the funds raised for the event. Donations from area individuals and businesses are honored on our website mariahsmission.org.
On December 13 from 6 to 8 p.m., Mariah’s Mission Fund is hosting a candlelight vigil at the Elks Club in Easton to honor loved ones who have passed away from substance abuse. Everyone in recovery and the general public is welcome. For further information about this event or the support group for families with members fighting substance abuse, visit mariahsmissionfund.org.
