The Maryland State Arts Council invites area artists to join its free online registry and, for those who sell their work through a Web site, to also opt into its Maryland Art Marketplace.
Open to visual, performing and literary artists, the artists registry (www.msac.org/artist-registry) is a resource for anyone looking for Maryland-made art of a particular genre or from a particular area of the state. Visitors to the site can sort artists by medium and by county. Launched November 2, 2015, the registry’s new Maryland Art Marketplace (www.msac.org/marketplace) is an outlet for selling work directly to the public.
“While the Art Marketplace directs potential buyers and gift-givers to Maryland artists’ online selling sites, the Maryland Artist Registry provides all Maryland artists—even those who don’t sell online—with opportunities for exposure,” says Kay MacIntosh, coordinator of Chestertown’s newly created Arts & Entertainment District. The registry’s recent redesign supports audio, jpeg and PDF files, as well as embedded video, she adds.
Artists already registered in the Maryland Artist Registry can join the Maryland Art Marketplace by logging inand editing their account. Those who are not already in the Maryland Artist Registry should create an account, and then opt-in to the Maryland Art Marketplace during the signup process. For questions or assistance, email Paul Shortt, registry administrator, at [email protected].
