Kent County Commissioner Billy Short joined Keep Kent County Scenic’s co-chair Janet Christensen-Lewis in sending an important message to the Talbot County Council on Tuesday of this week.
Faced with the very real possibility of having fifty large wind turbines installed without the consent of county residents, Short and Christensen-Lewis asked Talbot County for their support in fighting proposed wind farm sites and also put the spotlight on Maryland’s Board of Public Works Commission, who regulates and has final approval on wind turbine utilities in the state.
The 500 foot turbines (roughly the size of the Washington Monument in the Capital) planned for Kent County would violate the existing height limit of 150 feet for any structure in the county.
