The Queen Anne’s County Arts Council launched their “Trunk Show” for the Arts Auction last night with an evening of wine tasting and entertainment. Guests were treated to the sounds of the Van Williamson Duo while Crow Vineyards poured and guests munched on offerings from a six foot gourmet cheese board. But, the highlight of the evening was the official unveiling of the fourteen wooden trunks exquisitely decorated by the Local Artists who were honored at the event.
Partygoers were able to take advantage of a “buy it now” option or open the bidding that now continues online. Trunks will be delivered to sponsor locations all over Queen Anne’s County and be on display for the duration of the online auction that runs from September 20 – October 19, 2015.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of our artists and sponsors this year. The trunks are so unique and the amount of work our artists dedicated to them is unfathomable. Now our job is to encourage people to go online and place bids on them”, Executive Director Belinda Cook stated. “This is such a fun event; it builds excitement and brings the community together. We enjoy the opportunity to raise much needed funds for our arts programs while at the same time showcasing our talented local artists & business sponsors! We are always striving for ways to offer art programs at an affordable cost and this endeavor offers a good opportunity for the entire community to help”, Cook went on to say. Last year the Arts Council offered Adirondack Chairs during their “CHAIR-ity” online auction.
