Movies in the Park cranks it up to 1.21 Jigawatz this Friday July 24 with what many consider the greatest time travel movie of all in the history of time and space… Back to the Future! A worldwide cultural phenomenon, the highest grossing film of 1985 was produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Robert Zemeckis. Starring Michael J. Fox as time-traveler Marty McFly, and Christopher Lloyd as the zany Doc Brown, (in a plot only plausible in the 80’s), we follow as Marty is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean to make sure his high-school-age parents find true love and invent rock & roll.
The Foot of High Street will be closed so any local classic car owners, (pre-1960) can cruise in to add some 1950’s drive-in ambience and there will even be a real Delorean time machine on hand to add to the experience. Pre-show live rock and roll music from the 50’s and 60’s will entertain the early crowd.
The rest of the summer movies will continue with Raiders of the Lost Ark on August 7; Fantastic Mr Fox on August 21; and just in time for back to school with Mr. Peabody & Sherman on Sept 4.
Shows start at dusk, (approximately 8:30) on the Custom House Lawn at the Foot of High Street at Water Street in Downtown Chestertown, and are free to the public. Bring blankets and lawn chairs, (low seated are preferred). Rain dates will be the following Friday evenings.
