The popular weeklong MUSICAMP returns for its third year at the Garfield Center for the Arts in Chestertown on Monday August 10. This summer we will present, “Summer Camp- A Musical Caper about finding a place to belong,” written by John Jacobson and Mac Huff, and directed by Julie Lawrence and Rachel Craig. The show will touch on every sweet (and bittersweet) camp memory – from bugs and campfire stories to demanding counselors and feeling homesick.
MUSICAMP meets Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3:30 pm, with the show on Friday evening at 7pm. It was developed by Julie Lawrence to give kids a musical theatrical experience in one week. During that week, each camper will learn lines, sing songs, learn basic stage terminology, paint the set and perform song choreography. It is an amazing and intense process that will thrill the audience. We often get the comment, “How do you do all that in one week?”
Enroll someone you love between the ages of 8 and 15, and watch them sing and dance their way to being a confident performer. The fee for the entire week is $180; some scholarship money is available. Early registration is encouraged as the camp is limited to 30 participants.
