Chesapeake Charities will host a peer-to-peer networking event for local nonprofits at Shipwrecked, the new mini mall on Route 50 in Grasonville. The free event will take place on Friday, July 17, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
“The reason for the gathering is to provide an opportunity for nonprofit leaders in the area to share ideas, experience and challenges with each other,” explained Linda Kohler, Chesapeake Charities Executive Director. “Peer networking is so valuable but most nonprofit leaders have limited time and a full plate. We wanted to make it easy for nonprofits to get together and learn something new.” Kohler will kick off the event with tips on incorporating character into charitable programs, followed by an open session for attendees to bring up their most pressing concerns.
Terry Ober, one of the co-owners of Shipwrecked, is also director of the Reset Program, one of 75 funds managed by Chesapeake Charities. “We created a charity deck at Shipwrecked where local nonprofits can promote their programs and hold fundraising events. We want everyone to know about this unique opportunity to involve the community in the work they are doing,” said Ober.
Chesapeake Charities is a community foundation that supports a wide range of charitable causes including education, health and human services, animal welfare, and the environment. Chesapeake Charities is accredited by the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations.
