Caroline County’s Economic Development Corporation director Angela Visintainer never loses sight of the fact that her native county is one of the most remote, rural markets in the state, if not the entire Mid-Atlantic region.
With about 30,000 residents and a handful of manufacturing companies, Caroline faces an extraordinary disadvantage in attracting new businesses to their area. And yet Visintainer and her team of county leaders are steadfastly committed to marketing to new businesses large and small. In fact, as Ms. Visintainer notes in her interview with the Spy, Caroline County has never felt more bullish that with the area’s low costs, good schools, and with remarkably central transportation access.
During our conversation, Visintainer talks about the impact of new Wal-Mart in Denton, the county’s efforts w to work with Chesapeake College on creative workforce education programming, and Caroline’s long view plans over the next five years.
