Newly appointed Galena mayor Don Othoson enjoys a long history of running things. For most of his professional life, including directing Green Giant food operations on the East Coast, he’s pretty much managed things and people most of his life. And now in his retirement, he’s getting to use that skill again as the mayor of the same village he grew up more than seventy years ago.
The Spy talked to Mayor Othoson about Galena’s relationship with the boom town of Middletown, Delaware, only 15 minutes from its borders, the importance of fiber optics, and plans for a new wastewater treatment plant, but also the fun of running a small town at this point of his life.
The video is approximately seven minutes in length

Editor,
Small towns don’t have small problems. We are quite fortunate in Galena to have a dedicated citizen to step up with the leadership abilities and experience to fully develop the town as a gateway community and business center in the North County.
