The Garfield Center for the Arts is proud to present a special treat for this year’s annual holiday offering: An Eastern Shore Home Companion- An Evening With(Out) Garrison Keillor. This family friendly event is part broadcast variety show, part old-time radio play, part live theatre event. This holiday extravaganza is the perfect holiday present for all ages.
Set during a live radio broadcast of a holiday show, hilarity ensues when the big celebrity talent fails to materialize and the ensemble must put together a show without the star attraction. Crafted specifically to showcase the unique talents of Garfield Radio Players, this original production directed by Lucia Foster, features a veritable who’s who of local musicians, under the musical direction of Joe Holt. An Eastern Shore Home Companion is sure to become an instant classic for audiences. Featuring a dramatic in-show radio play, local church choirs singing carols, comedy sketches and surprise guests, the show truly celebrates the diverse talent and entertainment that the Garfield Center strives to offer its audiences year round.
The Spirit of the Season will also spill off the stage as the Garfield Center for the Arts has chosen to make this holiday production more than just a chance to entertain, offering a portion of each night’s proceeds to local charities in special need during the winter season.
This holiday extravaganza is on-stage Friday, December 6 & Saturday, December 7 at 7pm, and Sunday December 8 at 3pm.
An Eastern Shore Home Companion kicks off a month of festive programming at the Garfield including:
