Local brewmaster Kevin Shertz spend time with Startup Maryland a few months ago to outline his plans for the Chester River Brewing Company in Kent County. His “pitch” has recently been shared by the organization.
The Video is approximately four minutes in length.

Editor,
Thank you very much for highlighting our “Pitch Across Maryland” video. It’s greatly appreciated. On Wednesday, November 13th, Startup Maryland (the sponsoring organization for this campaign) will announce their 8 finalists (out of more than 160 entries) who will then be invited to ‘pitch’ their idea once again before the conference attendees of the TEDCO Entrepreneur Expo (https://www.innovatemd.com) on November 18th. We were very flattered to have taken 3rd place in their recent “Fan Favorite” contest, which provided significant exposure to CRBC — and, by extension — Kent County.

I realize not everyone is on Facebook or Twitter, so let me give you all an update as to where the business stands: after the plans for our business located within Chestertown proper were unable to be realized, we quietly spent about 9 months looking at other locations within Rock Hall, Millington, and other locations within the County.
A few months ago, we purchased a property just outside of Chestertown which we are currently looking to use as our base of operations. The County’s zoning has recently been updated to make our use of the property for this purpose a legal use, and we are currently having engineers and architects develop the required sets of plans to be submitted to Planning and Zoning for their evaluation. If all goes as planned, we hope to be open for business in mid/late 2014.
I look forward to the day when we in Kent County can say — over 225 years after the original — we have a brewery within our borders. Cheers!

Editor,
The brewery is a good thing, so like Sultana who could complain about the effort. But it is favoritism in action.
If Garfield were treated as well we would have no red herring token LED issue.
Good luck to Kevin and good news for the tow, but we know there is a taint in applying laws selectively. Not at all becoming; sadly just par and I suspect a popular hallmark for the future.
So much for town management and goals very stealth, scripted and obvious. The only casualty here is truth, Garfield efforts depended on it.
As for Garfield. Time for a new dynamic. One that is harder to upend.

Editor,
Excellent concept and presentation. I particularly liked the concept of partnering with B & B’s and other local businesses. Would be a good fit for Kent County.

Editor,
I wish Kevin all the best and look forward to drinking your beer. I like amber and darker beers. That would be what I try first. Kent County and Chestertown need your sort of business model to succeed here.
