Another piece of the saga of Maryland’s first congressional district going back to the early 1960’s.
This area is definately a politically interesting area.

Yes, the 1st District has had a rather checkered past. Sigh. To be exact, it started in ’62 with the indictment of then-Congressman. For history buffs and the transplants who don’t remember, here’s the whole rotten saga laid out. Ya just don’t miss until it’s (Wayne Gilchrest) gone, eh

I do commend the judge in the Wendy case. At least he gave her the max the law allows – maximum fine – plus for the next 5 years she will have P&P looking over her shoulder to see what she is up to – & follow-up to see she does her 500 hours. Just wish judge could have specified all 500 has to be cleaning toilets in the I-95 rest stops between Cockeysville and Florida

Why the state democratic committee endorsed this woman who had recently “converted” from Republican to Democrat over a life-long Democrat, over an eminently qualified medical doctor, and over a potential candidate who is proven morally and intellectually of serving as our US Congressperson is simply beyond the comprehension of many voters. Wendy Rosen chose to drop out of the primary election (she had to have been aware of the investigation of her voter fraud) after the deadline to have her name removed from the ballot, thereby assuring a Harris victory. In questioning her “conversion” I wonder if she coordinated her withdrawal with the Harris campaign.

Your theory is partially true. This was orchestrated by the GOP but our friend Wendy was just an innocent (sort of) pawn. She didn’t engineer any of it.
The facts are: She did not drop out of the primary election. If she had, none of this would have happened. When she won the primary and the right to be the Democratic nominee on the ballot in November, yes, it was the Republicans who ratted her out about the Florida connection. The way the trick worked, the Repubs sat on the information for awhile. They timed it in a way so that when they finally did dump it in the lap of the Democrats- they knew the time had run out to get her name off the ballot and a replacement (LaFerla) put on.
All in a day’s work.
