The Spy received notice of a new video on the Radcliffe Creek School website featuring Harvey Hubbell, creator of the documentary film Dysleckia. Hubbell describes Radcliffe Creek as ‘fine tuning’ young minds, and that the small teacher to child ratio, (two to five students per class), enables teachers to, “…learn how children are learning,” unlocking the key to the individual learning differences. Hubbell, himself dyslexic, adds that, “… you wouldn’t tell a blind person to look harder.”
Designed for children with diagnosed learning concerns, Radcliffe Creek School offers multi-sensory, hands-on teaching methods. Enrollment currently stands at sixty-seven, although there have been more than ninety in attendance in past years. Approximately 50% of the students benefit from financial aid, and the school guarantees the same amount, if not more, each year. Students range from ages 5 through 14; there is also a Pre-K open to any child. They are the only school if its type on the Eastern Shore, with children traveling from Annapolis and Dover as well as surrounding counties.
